The Japanese chin has a bright and intelligent look and a distinct Oriental expression. These dogs have a large broad head, large wide-set eyes, short broad muzzle, ear feathering and the evenly patterned facial markings. This toy breed ranges in weight from four to 11 pounds and in height from nine to 10 inches.
Intelligent, alert, loving, loyal, independent and cat-like
Japanese Chin requires very little exercise. They are happy with a daily walk or a nice play session but they tend to require little else. Training can be slightly difficult since they have a mind of their own and become bored with repetitious training. When they like you, however, they'll work hard to please you.
The Japanese Chin's true origin is in China, where the breed's chronology dates to at least the Fourth Century.
