General Health

The Kooikerhondje is a generally healthy breed, Hereditary necrotizing myelopathy, known as ENM or Kooiker paralysis, a degenerative spinal disease. Polymyositis, is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic muscle inflammation.

Exercise

Though they're generally adaptable and enjoy a leisurely stroll, they do need daily exercise and mental stimulation.

Origin

The Kooikerhondje was developed in the Netherlands sometime prior to the 16th century to be a breed to lure ducks into traps - a technique also called tolling
