Shiba inu

General Description

A small-to-medium breed, it is the smallest of the six original and distinct spitz breeds of dogs native to Japan. The Shiba Inu was originally bred for hunting, a small, alert, and agile dog that copes very well with mountainous terrain and hiking trails.

General Health

The Shiba is pretty healthy, but genetic problems that have been seen include hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, and eye problems. Allergies are also a problem in the breed, including inhalant allergies, known as atopy, that typically cause itching.

Exercise

Typically, Shibas will need around an hour of walking per day. Daily exercise and a balanced diet should keep them in good health.

Shiba Inu is a breed of dog that originated in Japan some 3,000 years ago for small-game and ground-bird hunting
