Thank you for your consideration in working with Van Poucke Golden Retrievers. Our primary stud dog “Cody” comes from a highly storied and successful line of Canadian, Norwegian, and American Golden Retrievers. Cody is Canadian Kennel Club and American Kennel Club registered. Cody was bred by Kyon Kennels in Mono, Ontario. “Cody” is a direct descent from three of the most well-known Canadian / American champions in the Golden Retriever bloodline, including a GRCC Hall of Fame #1 Golden and a GRCC National Specialty Winner. These Golden Retrievers are affectionally known as “Shea”, “Barney” and “Duke” as shared in detail below. We believe that by working with us and strategically incorporating “Cody” into your line that we can collaboratively continue to extend this family line for generations to come. The hallmark traits of our line include exceptional temperament, strong profile with excellent head, consistency in soundness across multiple generations, and versatility as a happy family companion or champion in the ring or field. About Van Poucke Golden Retrievers Our mission is to partner with top kennels in the United States, Canada, and Europe to continue this bloodline for future generations of champions and beloved family companions. The Lineage of Our Bloodline Our involvement with Golden Retrievers began in the 1990s when we had the opportunity to own a Golden Retriever directly descended from an American Golden Retriever “Barney” and his sire a Norwegian Golden Retriever named “Shea”. “Shay” was imported from Norway in the early 1980s by Kyon Kennels and is registered as Can. Bda. CH. Mjaerumhogdas Kyon Flying Surprise Can. CDX OS SDHF. “Shea” is a true patriarch of the Canadian Golden Retriever bloodlines and is often referenced by judges in Canada in the ring as an exemplary example of the breed with judges comments such as “That’s a Shea head” or “That’s a Shea topline”. “Shea” has produced an exceptional, multi-generational line of American and Canadian Champions Shay offspring. Sheas honors include being a member of Greater Golden Retriever Club of Canada Hall of Fame. “Barney” was the winningest dog out of his kennel Cameo Goldens and a direct descent from “Shea”. “Barney” was an American and Canadian champion. He is registered as Am./Can. CH. Cameo Countenance Of Courage. “Barney” continued from “Shea” and produced a long line of American and Canadian champions as can be viewed on K9Data. His offspring include American and Canadian Champions with titles in Confirmation, Rally, Agility, Working, Hunter, Companion Dog and Canine Good Citizen. Notable offspring include non-exhaustive list Can CH Westben Duke Of Courage BISS Can. CH Edgecombes Leeward Coast Edgecombes Be Advised CCA U-CD,SR Westbens Raisin Cain Cobi JCD RN JH NA NAJ OAP NJP WC In 1998, “Barney” produced “Duke” in a litter with “Truly” Am. CH Fargolds Westben Truth R Dare. “Duke” is registered as Can CH Westben Duke Of Courage BISS. “Duke” received his Championship title at his first show weekend in Canada by sweeping the 4-day event. He then went on to win the 2002 Greater Golden Retriever Club of Canada “Best of Breed” title beating approximately 180 dogs. “Duke” produced championship offspring in the tradition of “Shea” and “Barney” and with “Cody” this line will be continued for generations to come.
